That's why it's easy to find delicious farm-to-table meals, get an inside look at how your food is grown, and meet the talented, dedicated artisans behind it all. If you have a day or a weekend, there's so many unique stops and farm-to-table experiences unlike any other.

A Day in the Charming Camrose Countryside

Note, this tour is designed for folks coming from Edmonton but can be adapted by adding a lunch stop at a restaurant in Camrose and moving your picnic later in the evening.

Morning - Your first stop is at Thistle Hill Farms Petting Zoo where you can enjoy meeting all the animals and the kids can try pony rides.

Afternoon - Enjoy some fresh baking from The Farmhouse Bakery. known for growing and milling the flour for their baking right in Camrose County. The cinnamon buns are a popular pick. Make sure to also grab a loaf of bread for a picnic at your next stop. Make your way to Round Hill and stop at Irvings Farm Fresh for high quality pork. Enjoy your picnic at the Round Hill Renaissance Agricultural Foundation's gardens.

Evening - Enjoy star gazing at Miquelon Lake Provincial Park. If you're doing this trip on a Thursday, make sure to stop by the Hesje Observatory's drop-in star gazing with their tower and telescope. If not, simply enjoy the peace and wonder of star gazing in the UNESCO Beaverhills Biosphere Dark Sky Preserve.




A Weekend of Farm Life in Camrose County

Day 1 Morning - Your first stop is at Thistle Hill Farms Petting Zoo where you can enjoy meeting all the animals and the kids can try pony rides.

Day 1 Lunch - Stop for lunch at the Spotlight Bistro, located in the Bailey Theatre. They have great options for various diets including gluten free and vegetarian. This historic building and landmark was built in 1911 and is one of the oldest purpose-built theatres in Alberta. It underwent major renovations in 2011 and is an active host of arts & culture events in Camrose. Schedule a tour during your visit.

After lunch, you can explore the many shops and boutiques downtown or go for a quick walk of Mirror Lake.

Day 1 Afternoon - Make your way to sunny Rosalind, home of the Detention Brewery. This ironic brewery is set up in the former school inspired by tales told in the hallowed halls.

Day 1 Dinner - Indulge in a delicious dinner prepared at Cherry Lane B&B and Cafe. Stay at their charming Bed & Breakfast or camp in comfort at their campground. Try your hand at disc golf, or your foot at foot golf while enjoying the peace and serenity of the Camrose County countryside.


Day 2 Morning - Following a leisurely breakfast at Cherry Lane B&B and Cafe, you'll make your way out to LaPrairieaire Eco Tours where you'll learn some incredible history about the first peoples, early settler life, and even see some unique geological features in the Battle River and Meeting Creek river valleys.

Day 2 Lunch - Stop for lunch at Bashaw Meats & Sausage. They are known for sourcing high quality, local meat. They are known for their steaks, burgers, and smoked bacon.

Day 2 Afternoon - Step back in time with a self-guided tour of the old Verdun School (northwest of Duhamel) to get a feel of what living in this farming community was like in the early settler days.

Alternative: Set up a tour with Marigold Meadows near Armena to see a farm-in-action. You can see how their market garden is tended with care and produce is prepared for their customers.

Day 2 Evening - Stop in Camrose before heading home with a farm-to-table meal from one of the many restaurants that source local (just check the "Farm to Table" filter).
